The subtle mix of Oriental elements with a Western tone has always been a feature of Louis De Poortere's philosophy. In the "Vintage Collection" those Oriental and Western motifs are interwoven into a patchwork with some effects of wear. The rich color combinations contribute to the flair of modern interiors. French Savonnerie, Persian flower motifs and again the patchworks, this time worked out in Scandinavian pastel colors, which is the "Cameo Collection". The vintage effects of fading designs are the contemporary interpretation of old classics. The Fading World Collection is the perfect expression.

Madison Avenue runs between Park Avenue and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.
Since the Twenties, it has been the centre of the American advertising industry. The Mad-ison Men were the golden boys of the Sixties, who “dreamed up” the images of the iconic brands of the USA.
Inspired by this theme, Louis De Poortere has created a new collection of “Vintage Sixties” rugs. A mix of straight and broken lines, of dull and shining yarns, of smooth and ragged pencil strokes. -

It's like the unexpected trove amongst the confused display at the antiquarian's. An old rug, showing a familiar, yet almost forgotten pattern. A large central medallion, rosette shaped with a stair patterned perimeter. Palmettes in which the shape of a turtle seems to be suggested. Boughs, leaved twigs, stalks and flowers. A Heriz, distressed by age and with its origin in Azeri Persia.
